Organizing your past to prepare for the future

from eConnections

Some of the months of our calendar seem oddly named. September is derived from the Latin word for seven, even though it's the ninth month of the year. October is from the Latin for eight, November from nine and December from 10.

Getting organized ... Drawing in more people

Hello. I'm Caroline Meyers, director of corporate communications for MC² and this month's editor of eConnections.

At this time of year, many of us make resolutions to change our personal lives for the better -- lose weight, exercise more, cut down on alcohol. But what about our business lives? Perhaps this is the year to resolve to get organized. This month's feature article provides helpful tips on how to do just that, so you can reap the rewards of better organization.

One of our readers would like some help with a problem most exhibit professionals encounter at some point in their careers -- how to increase the number of visitors to a booth. What do you think? How do you attract people without using any "gimmicks"?

Please let us know what you'd like to see in our newsletter that's relevant to your professional life, or take our one-minute survey. Any comments you send in will enter you in a drawing for a video iPod.

Challenges ... Solutions

jan08cta.gifThe Challenge: Owens Corning had very precise brand identity requirements yet needed to incorporate new improvement ideas gleaned from previous exhibits. Over 103,000 industry professionals were coming to the International Builder's Show.

The Solution: Better exhibit elements, live demonstrations, theatrical lighting and more.

What’s Your Best Advice?

gimmick.gifThis Issue's Dilemma:

How do I bring traffic to a stop -- without any gimmicks?

I work for a small insurance company and exhibit about six times a year. My booth is always a 10x10. How do I get more people to visit my booth -- without using any gimmicks? I deal with financial planners, and they don't go for all the "bells and whistles."
