Luckily, foggy headlights are an easy fix if you have a bit of patience and are willing to use a little elbow grease.
To start, you'll want to purchase 1000 grit and 1500 grit sandpaper and a rubbing compound at your hardware store. Once you have the sandpaper, you can:
- Wet the cover of the headlamp and rub it side to side with the 1000 grit sandpaper. Be sure to rub the entire cover.
- After you feel you've rubbed the entire cover enough, rinse it with a bit of water to remove any residue that has built up.
- Now, you want to rub the cover with the 1500 grit sandpaper and after you've finished, rinse it again with some water.
- Dry the cover by rubbing it with the rubbing compound. Make sure you rub in a circular motion for approximately 5 minutes and once time is up - wipe off the compound.
- Next, you will need to buff the cover using a dry cotton cloth. This may take a while depending on how much fogginess you're dealing with.
- For the last step, simply polish the cover with a standard car wax.
Once you've completed all these steps, try taking a drive around the block that night to ensure that you now have clear, bright light. Remember, if your car is under warranty - don't try to repair it yourself - take it to Ross Downing Chevrolet and they'll help you with the repair.
